This landmark of South Perth was built by Fred Stidworthy a stone mason around 1900. He and is family moved in around 1902 lived downstairs while Fred built the Old Mill Theatre and designed and completed the stone masonry work at The Perth Zoo and a few other small projects around Perth during this time.
At some point in time Fred was reportedly stabbed in a Perth hotel and the Family moved upstairs and his wife ran the 1st tea rooms in South Perth downstairs until 1918.
Since then a dressmaker and tailor shop have operated at the property and in 1961 reportedly a Restaurant called The Rose. A restaurant down stairs and a Bordello up stairs as told to Sopranos staff by a coffee maker and other customers who have dinned at Soprano’s. A famous and well known French restaurant La Petit Noir ,Ladislavs a Hungarian Restaurant. Customers even say the building is haunted and have seen a figure on the stairwell.
